Overview

GospelArk connects listeners with Christian and Gospel artists worldwide through searchable artist profiles, discographies, personalized feeds, concert alerts, and integrations with Spotify and YouTube.

The challenge

Create a reliable discovery experience around a growing catalogue of Gospel artists while supporting authentication, personalized engagement, external music data, and artist-managed content.

The solution

Built the platform with Hono and TypeScript, integrated Spotify and YouTube data, and migrated the original Cloudflare D1 and Workers implementation to a maintainable Node.js, MySQL, and Prisma architecture.

Responsibilities

  • Built artist discovery, search, filtering, profiles, discographies, and personalized news feeds.
  • Integrated Spotify and YouTube APIs for artist metadata, music discovery, streaming content, and audience metrics.
  • Implemented authentication, artist following, notifications, profile claiming, artist dashboards, and administration tools.
  • Added transactional email workflows with Resend and strengthened authentication and account security.
  • Migrated application data and backend services from Cloudflare D1 and Workers to Node.js, MySQL, and Prisma.
